2026–27 Call for Applications: Internal Funding Opportunity for Academic Senate Faculty

Royce Hall

To: Academic Senate Faculty

Dear Colleagues:

The UCLA Academic Senate’s Council on Research (COR) is pleased to announce its grant opportunity for UCLA Senate faculty — the Research Allowance Program — to receive funding during the 2026-27 fiscal year. The COR invites Academic Senate faculty to apply for up to $5,000 in research funds.

Research Allowance Program
The COR Research Allowance Program (RAP) provides financial support for research-related activities of Senate faculty at UCLA. The maximum request amount per faculty member is $5,000 per funding cycle (fiscal year). Only applicants whose total research support does not exceed $100,000 for the 2026–2027 academic year may apply. The COR will determine the amount and the number of grants funded depending on available resources.

Application Deadline
The application submission deadline is Monday, March 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., PST . Please plan to submit an application early to avoid unexpected last-minute delays as COR will not consider late submissions regardless of circumstances.

Important Information

  1. The program guidelines and application are available online. Each eligible Senate faculty member may submit only one application per fiscal year.
  2. Grant recipients must spend funds within the fiscal year for which they are requested (July 1 – June 30).
  3. All unexpended funds must be returned to the Academic Senate at the end of the grant period. No extensions will be available under any circumstances.
  4. All restrictions governing allowable and non-allowable expenses per university policy apply to this program. Details are available in the specific ‘Call for Application’ links as well as on the COR Faculty Grants Program webpage.

We take this opportunity to remind colleagues of the Conference Travel Grant Program. This program supports domestic and international travel to conferences of recognized scholarly societies for the purpose of presenting results of original research and/or creative activity.

We welcome you to submit a RAP application and wish you continued success with your research endeavors.

Sincerely,

Dimitri Shlyakhtenko
