To: Academic Senate Faculty
The University depends on Academic Senate faculty to participate in shared governance, a foundational principle within the University of California. Your active participation affects the future direction of our institution. We invite you to volunteer to serve in your Academic Senate in 2025–26.
Volunteer for service by first identifying your interests in areas as wide-ranging as undergraduate education, academic freedom, research, promotions and tenure, and planning and budget. Find information on each committee and council on the Committees & Councils page. Then, complete the Senate Service Volunteer Form to indicate your general preferences by December 1, 2024. The Academic Senate’s Committee on Committees will consider and prioritize your requests.
As you already know, service to the University is one of the stated criteria in the personnel advancement process. We welcome you to use this opportunity to strengthen your dossier, develop and hone your leadership skills, meet and interact with colleagues from across the campus, and participate in shared governance.
If you have questions about Senate service, please contact Renee Rouzan-Kay at ConC@senate.ucla.edu.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for your interest in serving on the Academic Senate.
Sincerely,
Abby Kavner
Chair, Committee on Committees
