2024–25 Call for Applications: Internal Funding Opportunity for Academic Senate Faculty

Academic Senate

Council on Research

To: Academic Senate Faculty

Dear Colleagues:

The UCLA Academic Senate’s Council on Research (COR) is pleased to announce its new funding opportunity for UCLA Senate faculty — the Research Allowance Program — to receive funding during the 2024–2025 fiscal year. This new program replaces previous funding programs such as the Faculty Research Grant and the Research Enabling Grant.

COR invites Academic Senate faculty to apply for up to $5,000 in research funds.

Research Allowance Program

The COR Research Allowance Program provides financial support for research-related activities of Senate faculty at UCLA. The maximum request amount per faculty member is $5,000 per funding cycle (fiscal year). Only applicants whose total research support does not exceed $100,000 for the 2024–2025 academic year may apply. COR will determine the amount funded and the number of grants depending on available funds.

The application submission deadline is Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., PST. Please plan to submit an application early to avoid unexpected last-minute delays as COR will not consider late submissions regardless of circumstances.

Please note:

  1. The program guidelines and application are available on the COR Faculty Grants Program: Research web page.
  2. Each eligible Senate faculty member may submit only one application per fiscal year.
  3. Grant recipients must spend funds within the fiscal year for which they are requested. All unexpended funds are automatically recaptured by Business & Finance Solutions as of June 30, 2025 for redistribution. No extensions will be available under any circumstances.
  4. All of the restrictions governing allowable and non-allowable expenses per university policy apply to this program. Details are available in the specific ‘Call for Application’ links as well as on the COR Faculty Grants Program: Research web page.

Sincerely,

Alapakkam Sampath
Chair, Council on Research
