To: Members of the Los Angeles Division of the Academic Senate

Dear Colleagues:

The Legislative Assembly will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) Auditorium. The agenda is available now on the Legislative Assembly Agenda page.

The purpose of this meeting is to hold a discussion among Legislative Assembly members and Senate faculty about the recently announced closure of the two remaining Early Care and Education centers on campus in June 2027. Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Darnell Hunt will present. Legislative Assembly members will also consider the adoption of a Resolution Against Closing Early Care and Education (ECE) & University Parents Nursery School (UPNS) proposed by voting Legislative Assembly members.

Although each department and School has formal voting representation to the Assembly, all members of the Academic Senate are welcome to attend. In the spirit of shared governance, I encourage you to do so.

To ensure the integrity and security of the meeting, it is important for all attendees to RSVP via the Google Form by noon on October 5, 2026.
