Members of the Los Angeles Division of the Academic Senate

In accordance with UCLA Academic Senate Bylaws 140 and 155, the following constitutes a distribution by electronic mail of a “Notification of Actions” taken at the Thursday, February 5, 2026, Legislative Assembly. Action items are defined as “any item on the Legislative Assembly agenda, including items on the consent calendar, requiring a vote of approval.”

Materials related to the February 5, 2026, meeting of the Legislative Assembly are available on the Legislative Assembly website

Any petition by at least one-third of the voting members of the Legislative Assembly on any actions taken by the Legislative Assembly must be received in writing by the Academic Senate Chair within 10 instructional days from the date of distribution of this “Notification of Actions” memorandum. For the February 5 meeting, that date is February 23, 2026.
Minutes become official when the Legislative Assembly approves the document at the subsequent Legislative Assembly meeting. This notification is not a substitute for or an alteration of the requirement to record action items in the meeting minutes.

February 5, 2026, Legislative Assembly Meeting – 
Notification of Actions

  1.  Approval of Draft Minutes:
    The Legislative Assembly approved unanimously the draft minutes of the November 13, 2025, meeting as part of the Consent Calendar.
  2. The Legislative Assembly approved unanimously the following items as part of the Consent Calendar: 
    •     New Officers and Committee Roster 2026-27 
    •     2025-26 Legislative Assembly Standing Rules of Procedure 
    •     Amendment to Regulation 406: Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science, School of Engineering and Applied Science 
    •     Amendment to Regulations 425 and 426: Academic Requirements of the School of the Arts and Architecture Requirements for the Bachelor's Degree 
    •     Amendment to Regulations 441 and 442: Academic Requirements of the School of Theater, Film and Television Requirements for the Bachelor's Degree 
    •     Amendment to Regulations 494 and 495: General Academic Requirements, Herb Alpert School of Music 
    •     Amendment to Regulation 499: Academic Progress, Herb Alpert School of Music 
    •     Amendment to Appendix II (School of Medicine Bylaws) 
    •     Amendment to Regulation A-304.A.3 (Academic Notice and Dismissal) and Repeal of Regulations A-304.A.4 and 452 (Minimum Progress/Expected Cumulative Progress)
  3. de facto Appendix V Semel Institute Petition

    Legislative Assembly members voted via the Academic Senate Data Management System on the de facto Appendix V Petition from the Semel Institute. The Legislative Assembly received a total of 129 votes cast: 125 Concur, 4 Disagree. A majority of votes cast (97%) were to concur with the finding that the de facto Appendix V is unresolved.
  4. Appendix V Proposal to Discontinue the Master of Public Administration Graduate Degree Program

    Legislative Assembly members voted via the Academic Senate Data Management System on the proposal to discontinue the Master of Public Administration Graduate Degree. The Legislative Assembly voted 140 Approve, 3 Oppose, and 21 eligible members abstained. This proposal included divisional regulations and thus required a majority affirmative vote of 164 eligible voting members present for approval. As 85% of eligible members present voted in favor, the Legislative Assembly approved this proposal.
  5. Proposal to Establish a Master of Population Data Science SSGPDP

    Legislative Assembly members voted via the Academic Senate Data Management System on the proposal to establish a Master of Population Data Science SSGPDP. The Legislative Assembly voted 135 Approve, 11 Oppose, and 21 eligible members abstained. This proposal included divisional bylaws and regulations and thus required a 2/3 affirmative vote of 167 eligible voting members present for approval. As 81% of eligible members present voted in favor, the Legislative Assembly approved this proposal.
  6. Resolution on Shared Governance, Senate Consultation, and Administrative Accountability

    Legislative Assembly members voted via the Academic Senate Data Management System on the Resolution on Shared Governance, Senate Consultation, and Administrative Accountability. The Legislative Assembly received a total of 107 votes cast: 107 Approve, 0 Oppose. This Resolution required a majority of votes cast by present members to be approved. [AIPSC (2nd ed.) 5.1]. All eligible votes cast (100%) were to approve this resolution.
