Certification of Academic Senate 2026 Spring Election Results

Dear Colleagues:

I write to inform you that I have certified the results of the elections conducted by the UCLA Academic Senate to fill the position of UCLA Academic Senate Vice Chair, constituency seats on the Committee on Committees, and at-large members of the Executive Board. The following Academic Senate members were elected for the following positions for academic year 2026-27:

1. Academic Senate Vice Chair:

  • Catherine Sugar (Biostatistics, Statistics, Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences)
     

2. Committee on Committees Constituency Seats:

  • Seat 2 – Physical Sciences: Mihai Cucuringu (Mathematics)
  • Seat 6 – The Arts: Cesar Favila (Musicology)
  • Seat 7 – Health Sciences: Patricia Ganz (Health Policy and Management)
  • Seat 8 - Management and Others: Henry Friedman (Management)
  • Seat 9 - Education, Law and Public Affairs: Miriam Posner (Information Studies)
  • Seat 10 – Engineering: Jason Speyer (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering)
  • Seat 11 – Basic Sciences: Thomas Vondriska (Physiology, Anesthesiology)
  • Seat 13 – Neurology and Psychiatry: John Piacentini (Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences)
  • Seat 16 – Department of Medicine: Zhaoping Li (Medicine)
