Committee on Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools (CUARS)

COMMITTEE CHARGE

CUARS oversees matters relating to undergraduate admissions and relations with schools. The committee sets the conditions for freshman and transfer admission to UCLA, including establishing holistic review criteria used by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to select eligible students.

CUARS liaises with the Board of Admissions and Relations with Schools (BOARS) to establish undergraduate admissions policies for the University of California, in consultation with the Regents and systemwide Administration.

In addition, CUARS advises the Office of Undergraduate Admissions on the implementation of admission policies and procedures, such as recruitment and outreach efforts, and provides faculty perspectives on academic preparation for undergraduates entering the University.

The Committee generally meets the third Friday of each month during the academic year.
