Committee Charge
The primary mission of the Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is to provide advice to the University Administration on policies/programs to advance faculty diversity, including the recruitment and retention of women and underrepresented minorities. The Committee provides advice to the Academic Senate on issues relating to diversity and equal opportunity in the University community.
Membership
- Nine voting faculty, representing all areas within the University, as well as representing, to the greatest extent possible, the diversity of the University community and of our society. Appointed by the Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Legislative Assembly for terms of up to 3 years.
- Two ex-officio, non-voting members including the Vice Chancellor of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Associate Dean of Academic Diversity in the School of Medicine
- 4 student representatives, 2 undergrad and 2 graduate students appointed by their respective student government associations (votes reported separately)
- The Chair serves as a member of the systemwide University Committee on Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Equity
The Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion meets once a month during the academic year.
Interactions with Administration: The Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion interacts with the Vice Chancellor of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and the Associate Dean of Academic Diversity in the School of Medicine.
