Committee Charge
The primary mission of the Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is to provide advice to the University Administration on policies and programs to promote equal opportunity and foster inclusive excellence, including the recruitment, advancement, and retention of faculty from a wide variety of backgrounds. The Committee provides advice to the Academic Senate on issues relating to the Senate goals of fostering inclusive excellence, and develops recommendations to advance and support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the Academic Senate.
Membership
- Nine voting faculty, representing all areas within the University, as well as representing, to the greatest extent possible, the diversity of the University community and of our society. Appointed by the Committee on Committees and confirmed by the Legislative Assembly for terms of up to 3 years.
- One ex-officio, non-voting member, the Vice Provost of Inclusive Excellence
- 4 student representatives, 2 undergrad and 2 graduate students appointed by their respective student government associations (votes reported separately)
- The Chair serves as a member of the systemwide University Committee on Affirmative Action, Diversity, and Equity
The Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion meets once a month during the academic year.
Interactions with Administration: The Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion interacts with the Vice Provost of Inclusive Excellence, and the Vice Dean for Inclusive Excellence in the School of Medicine.
