Committee on International Education (CIE)

Committee Charge

The principal charge of the Committee on International Education (CIE) is to represent the Los Angeles Division in matters concerned with International Education. CIE maintains an active relationship with the Statewide University Committee on International Education (UCIE) through its UCIE representative.

CIE provides consultation and makes recommendations to the Los Angeles Division with respect to international education, international exchange, international internships, and international students and scholars. 

Membership

  • Five appointed faculty voting members
  • Three ex officio non-voting members – the Faculty Director and the Administrative Director of the International Education Office, the Director of the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars
  • Two student representatives – one undergraduate and one graduate student appointed by their respective student government associations (votes reported separately).

The Committee on International Education typically meets twice per quarter.

Interactions with Administration: Primarily interacts with the administrative branch via the ex officio members (the campus Faculty Director and the Administrative Director of the International Education Office, the Director of the Dashew Center for International Students & Scholars) and the Vice Provost and the Associate Vice Provost for International Studies. The Committee on International Education also interacts with the UC Education Abroad Program and the University Committee on International Education.
