Dear Colleagues:
The Academic Senate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awards were established in 1995 following a call from the systemwide Academic Senate to create a system of campus recognition and rewards for individuals who are especially successful in facilitating a fair and open environment. Since the call, the Academic Senate has granted awards yearly to individuals that have shown a great commitment to this work at UCLA.
Earlier this year, the Academic Senate sent a call for nominations to the UCLA community inviting individuals from departments, interdepartmental degree programs, institutes, or other academic units to nominate faculty who have shown a commitment to work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
I am pleased to announce the selected recipients of the 2024 Academic Senate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awards:
Courtney S. Thomas Tobin, Associate Professor of Community Health Sciences, Department of Community Health Sciences
Cheryl I. Harris, Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Professor in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, School of Law
Anna S. Lau, Professor of Clinical Psychology, Department of Psychology
