Dear Academic Senate Faculty:
We are writing to provide information about four opportunities to run for a position and vote in the UCLA Academic Senate elections in spring 2023.
For the 2023–2024 academic year, there are vacancies for the next Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Senate (who will become the Senate Chair in 2024–2025), three At-Large members of the Executive Board, thirteen members of the Committee on Committees (ConC), and numerous departmental representatives of the Legislative Assembly (LgA).
Please visit our elections web page to learn more about the available positions, nominate colleagues or yourself, and to vote. As in past years, all nominations and most voting will take place online.
Below is a summary of key information about the spring 2023 elections:
Departments receive notice regarding the election of their LgA representatives and alternates. Academic Senate members of each Department elect their Legislative Assembly representatives and alternates according to Department bylaws.
Nomination period opens for Senate Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, three members of the Executive Board, and thirteen members of the Committee on Committees (ConC). Within each ConC constituency, members may nominate and vote for candidates in their constituency.
Deadline to submit nominations for Senate Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, three members of the Executive Board, and thirteen ConC members.
Voting online commences via the Academic Senate Data Management System (DMS). All Academic Senate members, including Emeriti, may vote for Senate Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and ConC candidates.
End of voting period for Senate Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect and ConC candidates.
Senate members receive Notice of the next LgA meeting.
LgA meeting. Members elect Executive Board members.
Deadline to submit results of Department election of LgA representatives to the Academic Senate office at lga@senate.ucla.edu.
