Senate Faculty Town Hall on October 28, 2025
We invite UCLA Senate faculty to attend an in-person town hall on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4:00–5:30 p.m. at the California NanoSystems Institute (CSNI) Auditorium (town hall location on Google Maps; town hall location on UCLA Interactive Map ). Senate Faculty will have an opportunity to be in dialogue with Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer Stephen Agostini about UCLA budgetary issues from 4:15 –5 p.m., hear updates from Senate Chair McEvoy, and discuss campus issues with each other. It is required to register in advance to attend this meeting. Please RSVP by noon on Monday, October 27. Space is limited.
Statement From the UC Academic Council Regarding Any Potential Agreement Between the University and the Federal Government
The Academic Council of the UC Academic Senate developed and transmitted a Statement from the UC Academic Council Regarding any Potential Agreement Between the University and the Federal Government, which affirms the Council’s strong opposition to any agreement that would compromise the University of California’s institutional autonomy and academic freedom and underscores the Academic Senate’s expectation of meaningful participation in any discussions concerning a potential settlement. President Milliken’s response agrees with “the Council’s objection to any outside interference in the academic freedom, governance, and mission of the University.”
Unanimous Legislative Assembly Resolution
At the special meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Los Angeles Division of the UC Academic Senate on September 30, 2025, members unanimously approved a Resolution to Request the Department of Justice Letter. Following the Notice of Action period, the resolution was sent to Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Hunt, Chancellor Frenk and the systemwide Academic Senate Chair.
UCLA Compendium Update
The revised UCLA Compendium is now available on the Academic Proposals page. Updates include improved templates for proposals to establish new degree programs and departments and templates to modify existing programs and units. Please consult these resources to assist with preparing academic proposals.
Updated Results of UCLA Senate Faculty Survey
The results of the UCLA Senate Faculty Survey have been updated to include surveys completed after the deadline and improved formatting. Approximately 30% of non-emeriti Senate Faculty at UCLA responded to the survey designed to help inform the UCLA Academic Senate about the attitudes and opinions of UCLA Senate Faculty regarding a variety of UCLA issues and also to solicit feedback regarding the systemwide interim report of the UC Academic Senate Task Force on UC Adaptation to Disruptions (UCAD). Senate Leadership has shared and discussed the results with the Chancellor and the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. Senate leadership and committees continue to analyze the results to inform Senate priorities and activities.
