To: Academic Senate Faculty
Dear Colleagues:
I’m grateful to be working with all of you this academic year. As was clear from the special Legislative Assembly meeting this week, Senate faculty are passionate about shared governance and many other issues that affect faculty. The energy for positive change is appreciated!
However, it is also important to acknowledge that many faculty and others in our campus community are feeling at low points. With the challenges we face, individuals may fear for their safety, their ability to conduct their research, and their academic freedom. It is my sincere hope that everyone can take the space and time they need to keep themselves safe and well.
To continue conversations among Senate faculty, we plan to hold an in-person Town Hall later this month. We will send out more information soon and hope to see you there.
The UCLA Senate Faculty Survey results are now available on the Senate website. I am grateful that more than 750 Senate faculty took the time to fill out the survey. These results will be shared and discussed with Senate committees to focus our efforts as appropriate.
Discussions on consolidation plans, including OneIT, are underway across campus as part of Goal 5 of the Strategic Plan. Senate Leadership has had several discussions with Administrative Leadership about how we can work together so that the Senate can provide meaningful consultation on the OneIT plan. I am hopeful that we can develop consultation processes that will work not only for OneIT, but for other proposals from Administration, resulting in an improvement in shared governance that helps build a stronger institution.
Please feel free to reach out to me with your questions and concerns. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Results of UCLA Senate Faculty Survey
Over 750 Senate Faculty at UCLA responded to the recent survey designed to help inform the UCLA Academic Senate about the attitudes and opinions of UCLA Senate Faculty regarding a variety of campus issues and also to solicit feedback regarding the systemwide interim report of the UC Academic Senate Task Force on UC Adaptation to Disruptions (UCAD). The UCLA Senate Faculty Survey results are now available. Senate Leadership and committees will analyze the results to inform Senate priorities. Faculty Executive Committees are encouraged to discuss the results.
